Always More to Explore!
Constructed in 1839 as a one story cottage, the Lincolns lived in the house from 1844 until his election to the Presidency in 1861. Restored to its 1860s appearance the home reveals Lincoln as husband, father, politician, and President-elect. It stands in the midst of a four-block historic neighborhood which the National Park Service is restoring so that the neighborhood, like the house, will appear much as Lincoln would have remembered it.
The Illinois State Museum is a system of museums and galleries designed to foster an appreciation of the living world, introduce the art of Illinois, open windows to education, and protect irreplaceable state treasures.

The Morton Arboretum mission is to collect and study trees, shrubs, and other plants from around the world, to display them across naturally beautiful landscapes, and to learn how to grow them in ways that enhance our environment.

The Adler opened on May 12, 1930 as the first planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, and continues today to interpret the exploration of the Universe for the broadest possible audience. This mission and issues facing the astronomy education.
